    IELTS Writing Task 2

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

    Write about the following topic:

Schools are no longer necessary because much information is available on the internet and children can study well at home. Agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience.

    Write at least 250 words.

Example essay that was written by an IELTS student.

Undisputedly, schools have a significant role in education. It is often argued that online learning can diminish the role of the schools. I disagree with this notion, because school will be always the essential pillar in education, which means that internet is only supportive tool, however, I cannot deny the advantages of using internet contingently and under the supervision of teachers in favor of supporting schoolchildren and learning outcomes as well. This essay will illustrate my point of view buoyed by relevant examples.

On the one hand, Schools are deemed as the cornerstone in education system. Firstly, students in their early age need teacher, who can explain, repeat, and ask to assure understanding, that in turn, will boost their mental and social abilities among teacher-led lessons. Also class education is necessary in assessment exam, which would be hard to be evaluated at home, to illustrate this; we should mention monthly exams that done in classes, and under observation of teacher, thus, invigilator role is inevitable and will be performed by teacher. Secondly, the responsibility and significance of teacher surpass education purpose, especially if they treat with young students, I mean that, children need to absorb norms of behavior and codes of conduct, so that they have to see a paragon of civility in their daily sessions to be more disciplined, and this would be missed if we decided to abrogate school and depend only on remote learning.

On the other hand, Internet presents a valuable support to student’s practical skills and the educational subjects. From an educational perspective, there is a wide variety of information, which could be synthesized and implemented in curriculum. When we consider the third world nations, Ghana for instance, has done amendments for some subject syllabus to advance its education system to be similar to implemented education system in Germany. In addition, it is very known that students can readily use internet to increase their knowledge and skills, moreover they will be adequate to finish a rigorous research in a couple of minutes. This perspective contains another merit as it develops searching skills and make children are more likely to be enlightened more than be only academic qualified like any lay-student.

In conclusion, directly, schools play a vital role in learning and it will benefit pupils in many terms. Whereas online learning and using internet in study have also exorbitant advantages, which are defined and stemmed from class sessions and teacher direction.
